All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN) today announced an all-new “Queen of the Ring” live episode of women’s professional boxing on Friday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT from Hidalgo, Texas.
The live ‘Queen of the Ring’ broadcast of ‘Boxfest XX’ from Payne Arena will showcase a total of four matchups, including a six-round featherweight (126 pounds) main event contest between 2020 Olympian Shakilya Ellis (1-0) and fellow undefeated rising star, Karen Chacon (3-0).
“Friday will mark AWSN’s biggest night of boxing to date, featuring four compelling professional bouts, including a U.S. Olympian facing an undefeated contender,” said AWSN CEO George Chung.
“Since entering women’s boxing earlier this year,”, continued Chung, “’Queen of the Ring’ has consistently attracted a growing global audience. This event represents the next step in our commitment to making boxing a major part of the AWSN programming lineup and supporting the continued growth of women’s boxing and the broader combat sports community.”
The 31-year Ellis, a native of Lynn, Mass. and member of Team USA in the 2020 Olympic Games, will step into the competitive ring for the first time in 2026, after securing her first victory as a professional last October 10 by way of unanimous decision over Maria Salinas.
Prior to her professional debut, Ellis was a gold medalist at the 2022 world amateur boxing championships.
Chacon, a 22-year-old native of Bogotá, Colombia, is a four-time amateur national champion and a 2026 silver medalist at the prestigious Copa games.
Leading off the ‘Queen of the Ring’ lineup on AWSN, Ariana Carrasco (2-0, 1 KO) will battle Jozette Cotton (0-5-1) in a four-round, super welterweight (154 pounds) clash.
Carrasco, 22, of Las Cruces, N.M. will make a quick turnaround after earning her second professional victory on the last ‘Queen of the Ring’ show, defeating Chanisse Jenner via unanimous decision just four weeks ago, on August 7.
Cotton is a 38-year-old resident of Omaha, Nebraska looking for her first win as a professional.
In a four-round, super featherweight (130 pounds) matchup between two competitors making their respective professional debuts, Mercedes Castanon (0-0) of San Antonio, Texas will square off with Katelyn Marks (0-0) of Louisville, KY.
The fourth bout will see Lisbeth Retiz (0-0) of Alamo, Texas make her professional debut against Amarilis Adorno (1-19) of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico in a four-round, flyweight (112 pounds) meeting.
Available in over 60 countries and over 1 billion devices worldwide, AWSN produced its first broadcast of ‘Queen of the Ring’ women’s boxing in February in partnership with Manny Paquiao Promotions.
AWSN, which is also the fastest-growing platform dedicated exclusively to women’s sports on a 24/7 basis, has since worked with other promotions led by iconic names, including ‘The Mike Tyson Invitational’ and Juan Manuel Marquez’s outfit Marquez Promotions.
