Former South African world champion Sivenathi Nontshinga, 27, a two-time IBF light flyweight world champion, was involved in a minor car accident on Monday, August 24, on Malibongwe Drive in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Nontshinga was traveling to the gym to continue training for his IBF world title eliminator against Filipino Regie Suganob on September 4 in the Philippines.
The vehicle was driven by his father when it was struck by a truck. Nontshinga sustained no injuries and quickly returned to training, ensuring his Fight with Suganob will go forward as scheduled.
South African sports fans are still mourning the murder of two-time former world champion Zolani Tete on Friday night in Mdantsane.
