Albert Nat Hyde, also known as Bongo Ideas, has sparked debate with his controversial views on the recent marriage of Emmanuel Kofi Tetteh George (affectionately known as Biggie), the younger brother of Member of Parliament Sam George, and his newlywed bride, Ruth Ewoenam.

The couple married on April 12, 2025, in a ceremony that received widespread notice. However, Bongo Ideas moved to X (previously Twitter) to express his cynical view of the union, claiming that financial security, rather than love, was the cornerstone of their relationship.

    He wrote the following tweets:

“Women don’t have specifications…” Even if she is not physically attracted to you, as long as you can provide for her, she will stay! Size and appearance only matter if you’re broke and can’t match her material requirements. As long as her love is available for purchase, the highest bidder will win. Congratulations, Biggie!”

He also stated that the couple met on Snapchat, hinting that Ruth’s decision to stay with Biggie was motivated by reasons other than romanticism.

“The strange part is, they met over Snapchat! The girl didn’t know him until after their first date, but she opted to stick around! It can’t just be love; some important criteria were met, and they’re mostly related to financial security, pedigree, and status.”

His statements sparked outrage, with several people backing the couple. One X user, Kwame Ato, responded: “They both reside and work in Germany. This is true love. “If they were in Ghana, I would have agreed with you.”

However, Bongo Ideas stayed firm, replying:

“The conditions of love apply universally. Bottom line: every lady out there is seeking for a provider! “Nothing more, nothing less.”

The debate has elicited a mixed response online, with some applauding his candid analysis and others accusing him of damaging genuine relationships. As the controversy continues, the pair has yet to respond publicly to the comments.

Bongo Ideas, known for his unvarnished perspectives on social issues, remains unapologetic, reiterating his belief that financial security frequently drives romantic choices. The question of whether his views are realistic or cynical continues to be debated.
