By NICHOLAS WILSON, NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA

    Published: 02:00 EDT, 28 October 2025 | Updated: 02:23 EDT, 28 October 2025

Mark Latham has publicly claimed that his ex-partner Nathalie Matthews has withdrawn her private AVO against him.

Nathalie Matthews, 38, filed a private AVO in the NSW Local Court in July alleging Mr Latham subjected her to abuse including claims that he defecated on her during sex and drove a vehicle at her.

The hearing was set for Wednesday, however Mr Latham revealed online the day before that Ms Matthews had dropped the case.

‘Agreed undertakings have been arrived at,’ Mr Latham wrote on social media. ‘That’s the end of that. Thank you for your attention to this matter.’

‘Now waiting for the media apologies to roll in …. NOT! Especially from the schoolgirls who covered the story desperately wanting me to be the villain.’

He also described a report on the update in the Sydney Morning Herald as ‘fake’.

While Mr Latham did not state what the article got wrong, it suggested the AVO had been withdrawn on the condition Mr Latham not tweet about Ms Matthews or use parliamentary privilege to discuss the break-up.

The case remained listed for Wednesday at time of writing on Tuesday afternoon.

Ms Matthews first brought the AVO against Mr Latham in July, alleging he inflicted a ‘sustained pattern’ of of psychological, financial and emotional abuse against her.

Mr Latham has consistently denied all abuse allegations.
