Bologna FC has recalled Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana from international duty to receive treatment in Italy ahead of their crucial Serie A fixture against AC Milan on September 14.

The 22-year-old, on a season-long loan from Atalanta, was an unused substitute in Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup qualifier draw against Chad last Thursday.

It is understood that the Black Stars’ upcoming match against Mali on Monday may also come too soon for the midfielder who is reportedly not fit, prompting his early return to club side.

Sulemana has left the Ghana camp to focus on regaining full fitness as Bologna prepares for a challenging match against AC Milan.

The club is keen to have him available for selection, emphasising the importance of his recovery ahead of their Serie A campaign.

Despite Sulemana’s absence, the Black Stars remain atop Group I with 16 points and are determined to secure a strong position in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, to be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Sulemana, who is aiming to establish himself under Bologna’s manager, will prioritise rehabilitation to contribute effectively upon his return to the pitch.
