The body of a seven-year-old boy who was swept away by floodwaters at Abrepo Bronikrom in the Bantama constituency last Saturday has been discovered at Atwima Akropong in the Atwima Nwabiagya District.

The tragic incident triggered days of intense search efforts, which initially yielded no results, until the body was finally located five days later.

The boy, identified only as Kwame, was among three children bathing in the rain when one of their slippers was swept away.

In an attempt to retrieve it, the late Kwame was carried away by the rushing floodwaters through a gutter.

According to adomonline.com report on Thursday, October 2, 2025, a member of the search team, Wayomi, expressed shock over the distance the body had traveled.

“We are really surprised because we didn’t know that the body will go that far,” he said.

The body has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for autopsy.

Authorities at the facility are expected to release it soon to allow the family to proceed with burial arrangements.

The discovery has brought a painful but much-needed closure for the late Kwame’s family and the community members who were tirelessly engaged in a search for his remains.
