This afternoon, a shocking incident unfolded on East Airport Road near Burma Camp when a moving BMW X3 burst into flames without warning. Witnesses reported that the SUV, which had been driving normally moments earlier, was quickly consumed by intense fire. Bystanders rushed to the scene, some filming the incident while others called for help. According to onlookers, the driver swiftly exited the vehicle just before the flames completely overtook it. Many described the scene as terrifying, as no one expected such a sudden disaster in the middle of the road.

The BMW X3 was completely destroyed, with thick black smoke billowing into the air. Witnesses were stunned by how rapidly the fire spread. One report from the scene confirmed, “A BMW X3 caught fire on East Airport Road near Burma Camp this afternoon. The driver escaped unharmed, and the Fire Service responded promptly to put out the blaze, though the cause remains under investigation.”

Nearby drivers stopped to watch in shock as the luxury SUV became a fiery wreck. Many expressed relief that the driver survived, as the situation could have easily turned fatal. Some worried the flames might reach other vehicles, given the heavy traffic, but fortunately, drivers maintained enough space for emergency responders to act quickly.

The Ghana National Fire Service arrived within minutes and swiftly extinguished the flames using water and foam. Their rapid action prevented further damage and helped restore order. As the smoke cleared, onlookers applauded the firefighters for their timely response, acknowledging that delays could have led to greater destruction.

The exact cause of the fire remains unclear. Some speculate it was due to an electrical malfunction or overheating, while others suspect a fuel leak. Authorities are still investigating the incident. Meanwhile, images and videos of the burnt vehicle have circulated widely on social media, sparking discussions.

Most remarkably, the driver escaped unharmed—a stroke of luck, considering how quickly the fire engulfed the car. The incident has left a lasting impression on commuters along East Airport Road, serving as a stark reminder of how quickly a routine trip can turn into a life-threatening situation.
