This is the frightening moment a dangerous BMW driver reversed up a busy A-road and pursued a coach with 80 children on board.

Clint Hydes, 42, started following the coach in a reckless manner after his vehicle clipped the curb when exiting the Army and Navy Roundabout near Chelmsford, Essex, in March last year.

He entered a state of road rage after his car got caught between the coach and the side of the road.

Despite neither vehicle being damaged, Hydes wanted to speak to the driver to obtain his insurance and decided to closely follow the coach up the A130 dual carriageway.

Dashcam footage shows him swerving in front of the coach in an unsafe manner and getting out his car to vehemently demonstrate his unhappiness to the coach driver when the two were waiting at a set of traffic lights.

In order to keep his passengers safe, the victim diverted the bus as it approached the Maldon Road slip road.

But Hydes would not give up easily and narrowly avoided a collision when he emergency braked to a complete stop in the middle of the road.

He then shockingly reversed up the carriageway to continue his hot-headed pursuit of the coach.

Eventually, the pair came to a stop on A130, towards Basildon, and the coach driver waited in a layby after he called 999.

When Roads Policing Unit officers arrived, Hydes was out of his car, having parked beside the coach, and told the force he just wanted to speak to the coach driver.

It then emerged that he had reversed against the flow of traffic for a second time in order to keep track of the coach.

Hydes, of Montagu Chase, Burnham-on-Crouch, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving when he appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 27.

He was sentenced to six month’s imprisonment, suspended for a year.

Furthermore, he was ordered to complete 150 hours Community Service and banned from driving for 18 months.

Insp James Freeman said: ‘This type of driving will not be tolerated.’
