Legendary Ghanaian footballer George Alhassan believes that Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations should be blamed on head coach Otto Addo.

According to George Alhassan, Otto Addo’s mediocre tactics caused Ghana to miss out on the AFCON, which will be held in Morocco.

Speaking on Happy FM, George Alhassan downplayed suggestions that the lack of commitment from the players and the poor managerial skills of the FA are the factors behind Ghana’s poor showing in the qualifiers.

“They (players) are committed… In our case, I don’t think we have a good coach because if you have a good coach, things like this wouldn’t have happened. So in our case, this particular issue, it’s coaching stuff,” he told Citi Sports.

“Me, I won’t blame GFA (Ghana Football Association) and other people; it’s the technical team. No player will wear a jersey and want to go and disgrace himself; for me, I believe it’s the coaches,” he added.

The future of Otto Addo is uncertain after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

In six matches played, the Black Stars won none, lost three, and drew three, finishing bottom of a group with Angola, Sudan, and Niger.
