Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has charged the Black Stars to punish Comoros on Sunday.

Ghana will host Comoros in their final game of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Black Stars have lost twice against Comoros. Ghana suffered elimination after losing to Comoros during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament before losing again in the Matchday 2 fixture of the World Cup qualifiers in Moroni.

With Ghana needing just a point to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Vanderpuye has urged the team to seek revenge against Comoros.

“Against Comoros, we have qualified already. Even if we lose, Madagascar would need to win by eight goals to overtake us, which is practically impossible,” he said.

“But we should still win against Comoros because of the painful defeat we suffered in the past. We have to prove to them that we are Ghana,” he added.

Kick-off for the game is scheduled for 19:00 GMT.

Having featured in the 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022 World Cups in Germany, South Africa, Brazil, and Qatar, respectively, the Black Stars are determined to make a fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage.
