Black Stars Technical Advisor Winfried Schäfer has stressed the importance of approaching the upcoming World Cup qualifiers with confidence and a winning mentality.

According to him, Ghana needs to secure crucial points from the matches against Chad and Madagascar to improve its chances of qualifying for the Mundial next year.

“We have to go into the next two matches with confidence and a winning mentality. The players must understand that when they come here and return to their clubs, they should feel highly motivated and fit. No one should think, ‘Oh, now I have to go to Ghana, and the field is not good, the pitch is not good, the massage is not good.’ No, that is the first thing we have to change.

“We need to create an environment where players are happy when they come here. If we do that, we can take a big step toward qualifying for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. That is our goal,” Winfried Schäfer said in an interview with the Ghana FA’s media team.

Ghana currently sits second in Group I after four matches in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars can move to the top of the group with victories against Chad and Madagascar later this month.
