The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has stated that the Black Stars currently lack midfielders capable of creating chances for the team.
He explained that SC Freiburg player Daniel Kofi Kyereh, who suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, was the one who effectively played that creative role.
The MP noted that Kyereh’s partnership with Thomas Partey provided the team with midfield solidity in terms of creativity and control, helping to balance the game.
Ghana star Antoine Semenyo tipped for Real Madrid after explosive Premier League start
“What have I identified? That the national team lacks creativity in midfield. We were close to having someone who could juggle the ball and create chances to partner Partey.
“That was Kyereh of Freiburg. He’s injured, he has an ACL injury, and he’s been struggling, it’s very unfortunate. You and I have grown up knowing Ghanaian teams to be full of skillful players who create opportunities and deliver passes for our strikers,” he told Sporty FM.
The Okaikwei Central MP added that players like Kwasi Sibo and Elisha Owusu have not yet demonstrated the high level of creativity expected in midfield.
He urged the technical team to establish a consistent starting lineup across various positions to build cohesion and chemistry within the squad.
“Today it’s Sulemana in midfield with Partey, tomorrow it’s Partey and Kwasi Sibo. The next day it’s Elisha Owusu. That’s where the problem lies.
“You look at the fullbacks, Gideon Mensah has shown some consistency. But on the right, it’s Alidu Seidu today, tomorrow it’s Caleb Yirenkyi, and the next day you find Jerome Opoku. So we need consistency,” he added.
