Black Starlets head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum says his side is motivated ahead of their final against Ivory Coast in the WAFU B U-17 Championships.

After a disappointing 1-1 draw against Togo, Ghana suffered a 3-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire before securing a 3-1 win against Niger.

However, Narteh Ogum’s side defeated Nigeria in the semifinals to set up a final against Ivory Coast at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 19:00 GMT.

Speaking ahead of the game, Narteh Ogum stressed that they are determined and motivated to beat the host country.

“We’ve played them, we’ve seen them play, and they’ve also seen us play,” he said in the pre-match, as he looked forward to the rematch against the host country.

“They defeated us, and it’s the second time we are playing them, and I think it’s enough motivation for us to come in strongly and make sure what happened in the group stage does not happen again.”

The two teams have already secured places in next year’s U-17 Africa Cup of Nations by virtue of being in the final of the regional tournament.

It will be the third meeting between the two teams since 2022, when Ghana beat Ivory Coast to win a bronze medal at this same level.

In 2024, Ghana also recorded a 5-1 win over the Ivorians in their first game at the WAFU B U-17 Championship.
