Rex Omar is the Presidential Staffer and National Coordinator of the Black Star Experience

Presidential Staffer and National Coordinator of the Black Star Experience, Rex Omar, has responded to critics questioning the initiative’s silence with pragmatic clarity.

Speaking during a GhanaWeb X Spaces discussion on September 5, 2025, he emphasised that updates will be shared only when there is substantive progress to report.

“Under normal circumstances, if it weren’t for my respect for GhanaWeb, I wouldn’t have spoken.

“If we have a project underway, we will come out to speak about it when we are ready,” he told hosts Isaac Dadzie and Joseph Henry Mensah.

He highlighted that the team had so far engaged the media during key milestones, such as the initiative’s launch, the Creative’s Connect Africa event, and signing an MOU with South Africa.

Rex Omar reassured that the focus remains on tangible results.

“So we go to the media when we have something to say, we can’t just come out to speak just because we want people to hear that we are speaking. We are not hiding from anybody,” he said

He added that such groundwork is essential for the initiative to eventually enable Ghana to become a global cultural hub.

“So please exercise patience; we are doing a lot of work, and it will pay off eventually so that Ghana will become a global cultural centre,” he said.
