Ghanaian artiste Black Sherif has broken records once again, as popular streaming platform Spotify has revealed him as the most-streamed artiste in Ghana over the last 5 years.

Spotify, which launched in Africa in February 2021, released a list of the top 5 most streamed artistes and most-streamed songs in Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana.

The story of Black Sherif’s unbroken reign in Ghana’s music streaming era

For Ghana, Black Sherif topped the list, followed by Nigerian artistes Asake and Burna Boy, before renowned Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie joined him. The list ended with American rapper Drake.

For the top five most-streamed songs in Ghana, Black Sherif took up four positions with ‘Wotowoto Seasoning,’ ‘Oil On My Head,’ ‘Sacrifice’ and ‘Konongo Zongo.’

The list was only broken with Nigeria’s Asake with ‘Lonley At The Top.’

The Nigerian list was dominated by Wizkid, Asake, and Burna Boy, while the Kenyan list was shockingly dominated not by Kenyan musicians but by American and Nigerian musicians.

Black Sherif’s domination is no surprise, as he has been the most-streamed Ghanaian star since 2022.
