Black Queens have made progress in the FIFA rankings Black Queens have made progress in the FIFA rankings

The Black Queens have made a giant leap in the latest Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) rankings.

The Queens were previously ranked 72nd but have now made remarkable progress to occupy the 67th position in the world following their recent impressive performances.

On the African continent, the Black Queens are now regarded as the third-best national team, trailing Nigeria and South Africa, who occupy the top two spots.

This rise comes on the back of the team’s incredible performances in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they won the bronze medal after beating South Africa to finish third.

The Black Queens maintained their strong form when they thrashed Egypt 7-0 on aggregate in the qualifiers to secure a place in the 2026 WAFCON.

Their only recent setback was a defeat to European champions, the Lionesses of England, at Wembley Stadium.

The Black Queens will now focus on preparing adequately for the 2026 WAFCON, scheduled to take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026 in Morocco.
