Bank of Africa have honored the Black Queens for winning a bronze medal at the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) during breakfast treat on August 7, 2025.

Vice Captain Jennifer Cudjoe, Jacqueline Owusu, Nina Norshie, and central defender Susan Ama Duah were the representatives of the Black Queens at the meeting.

Jennifer expressed her gratitude to the bank for appreciating their efforts.

According to her, some Ghanaians had doubts about their ability to go far in the tournament, which even motivated them to give their best to clinch a bronze medal.

“Being able to represent Ghana is something we love, and our aim was to come home with something. We did not want to come home after losing.

People did not believe in us, but we came home with something, and now everybody can see that we are proud to represent the nation. So, we appreciate you all for having us today,” she told GhanaWeb Sports.

Managing Director of the Bank, Abderrahmane Belbachir, who happens to be Moroccan, promised to support the team in their subsequent endeavors when the need arises.

“We are very proud of you for making a great tournament by finishing in third place. I wish you all the best for the future, and I know you will do your best. Bank of Africa will support you all the time, and we are now your partners,” he noted.

The Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Bank of Africa, Leila Pentsil, shared the motivation behind their move to meet the players.

“When we heard about the success of the team, nobody gave them a chance, but they went and came back with bronze. So, we thought, why not call them as women and as a Moroccan bank to have some conversations, get them to share their experiences, and see what we can do to support them in their next activities,” she said.

The visit forms part of Bank of Africa’s bid to support women’s football in the country in the best way possible.

The team will return in October 2025 to take on Egypt in a two-legged affair to decide who qualifies for the 2026 Women’s WAFCON.
