The Black Princesses of Ghana are reportedly still staying at their hotel following concerns over unpaid bonuses and allowances after securing qualification to the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The team booked their place at the tournament after defeating Uganda women’s under-20 national football team 3-2 on aggregate in the final round of qualifiers.

Ghana won the first leg 2-1 in Accra before earning a 1-1 draw in Kampala over the weekend to seal qualification.

Despite the achievement, reports indicate the players have refused to leave camp due to unresolved issues surrounding unpaid per diems and allowances.

Some members of the squad are believed to fear the matter could be ignored once they return to their various clubs, leading to their decision to remain at the hotel until payments are settled.

Head coach Charles Sampson had earlier praised the players for their efforts during the qualifiers and expressed optimism about Ghana’s chances of progressing beyond the group stage at the World Cup.

The Black Princesses are set to discover their group stage opponents during the official draw scheduled for Friday, May 15, in Lodz, as confirmed by FIFA.

The 24-team FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be staged in Poland from September 5 to September 27, 2026.
