Ghana Premier League side Bibiani Gold Stars have appointed Swiss tactician Fritz Markus Schmid as their new head coach.

In a notice on Monday, December 22, the Ghana Premier League defending champions indicated that Schmid has joined on a two-year contract.

“We’re pleased to share that Swiss international Fritz Markus Schmid has joined us as our new Head Coach, signing a two-year contract with the club.

“Welcome to the family, Coach Fritz. We’re glad to have you with us,” Gold Stars said in a post on X.

The new coach has joined Gold Stars with vast experience at the highest level of the game. In the past, Coach Fritz worked as an assistant coach with Tottenham Hotspur, FC Basel, and the Austria National Team, and later served as Head Coach of the New Zealand Men’s National Team.

In his most recent job, he played a key role in guiding Kotoku Royals to promotion into the Ghana Premier League.

Fritz is now on the books of Gold Stars, where he is beginning an exciting new chapter focused on ambition, steady growth, and long-term success.

Gold Stars currently sit third in the Ghana Premier League table with 25 points, just three behind leaders Aduana FC.

Fritz Markus Schmid, with his quality and experience, will be expected to lead the team to challenge for the league title.
