The Bureau for Internal Affairs (BIA) has called on the National Security and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate blackmail attempts against Capital O2, a Ghanaian business facing targeted attacks on social media.

According to BIA, its investigations have revealed that a group, allegedly contracted by competitors, is using social media to spread false allegations with the intent to collapse the Capital O2 for producing alleged unwholesome products.

The Bureau further noted that those making these claims have refused to show their identities, raising concerns about the credibility of their allegations against Capital O2 company.

Additionally, no certified medical center has validated the allegations made against Capital O2.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has also condemned the smear campaign, reinforcing suspicions that the attacks are part of an agenda to discredit the company.

BIA is urging law enforcement agencies to take swift action against individuals using social media to tarnish the image of legitimate businesses, emphasizing the need to protect Ghanaian companies from such malicious acts.
