betPawa, Africa’s biggest betting brand, is thrilled to announce its groundbreaking sponsorship of both the Ghana Premier League and Women’s Premier League for the 2025/26 season, introducing the transformative Locker Room Bonus initiative to both leagues.

For the first time, betPawa will provide equal bonuses to male and female players in their respective leagues, a major milestone in its mission to support professional athletes at every level of the game.

Since 2022, betPawa’s Locker Room Bonus has revolutionized the Ghana Premier League, rewarding winning teams with GHC 9,200 per game, distributed as GHC 400 to each of the 20 players and three technical staff members.

The initiative has fueled fierce competition, leading to three new champions – Medeama SC, Samartex, and Bibiani Gold Stars – emerging in the men’s league.

Last season, betPawa extended its support to the Women’s FA Cup, where Faith Ladies clinched a historic first title.

Now, for the 2025/26 season, betPawa is doubling down on its commitment by bringing the Locker Room Bonus to both the men’s and women’s leagues, directly supporting athletes and raising the standard of football across the country.

The Ghana Premier League features 18 teams, while the Women’s Premier League includes 20 clubs – and for each of these teams, every victory now comes with an instant reward.

Through betPawa’s fast payout system, winning players receive their Locker Room Bonus even before they get back to the dressing room, directly into their mobile wallets.

To date, betPawa has paid out over GHC 4 million in Locker Room Bonuses in Ghana – a direct investment into the hands of players and technical staff across the country.

The Locker Room Bonus is designed to celebrate hard work and reward winners, with payments delivered seamlessly via mobile money. This initiative has proven its impact, driven competitive spirit and unearthing new talent across Ghana’s top football leagues.

By extending the same rewards to the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, betPawa is championing gender equity and ensuring that female athletes receive the recognition and support they deserve.

“At betPawa, we see ourselves as visionaries and we want to make a tangible difference in the lives of athletes and the communities they inspire,” said Borah Omary Ndanyungu, betPawa’s Head of Local Marketing and CSR.

“The Locker Room Bonus is our way of putting players first, empowering them to shine on the pitch and build brighter futures off it. By sponsoring both leagues with equal support, we’re proud to lead the charge in building a more professional and sustainable future for African football.”

In addition to the Locker Room Bonus, betPawa is also launching a new technical initiative this season, in partnership with the GFA and participating clubs.

This initiative is designed to further enhance the professionalisation of football in Ghana, with more details set to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
