Nana Oteng Kuranchie II, Chief of Berekuso and Twafohene of the Akuapem Traditional Area in the Akuapem District of the Eastern Region, has commended the Rotary Club of Accra-Ring Road Central for constructing a new community clinic for the people of Berekuso.

According to the chief, the initiative has significantly alleviated the burden on residents who previously struggled to access healthcare services.

“We had only one clinic here, and when our people fell sick, they often had to travel to nearby towns or even to Accra for medical care. We are grateful for this new facility, which will greatly improve healthcare in our community. I also heard them mention maintenance, and we will ensure the proper upkeep of the clinic,” he stated.

The Rotary Club of Accra-Ring Road Central officially commissioned and handed over the fully furnished community clinic to the people of Berekuso on May 10, 2025, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to improving healthcare access in underserved communities.

Albert Bahun Wilson, President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Ring Road Central, emphasized the club’s dedication to impactful service.

“This clinic represents more than bricks and mortar—it is a symbol of compassion and a beacon of hope. Our goal is to ensure that quality healthcare is no longer a privilege but a right, even in the remotest corners,” he said.

The Special Guest of Honour, Rotary International President-Elect (RIPE) Mario César Martins de Camargo, expressed admiration for the project’s alignment with Rotary’s global vision.

Emilia Amponsah, the Municipal Director of the Ghana Health Service, highlighted the poor condition of the previous facility.

“The condition was not good, so with this new clinic, we will be able to provide better healthcare to the people of Berekuso and its surrounding areas,” she noted.

She also praised the Rotary Club for its commitment to serving the community and fulfilling the vision of Rotary International.

The clinic, equipped with essential medical facilities, will provide much-needed maternal, child, and primary healthcare services to the Berekuso community and neighboring towns. It stands as a testament to what can be achieved through purposeful partnerships and Rotary’s enduring spirit.
