Three Black Stars players who distinguished themselves have been honored by the technical team and their teammates ahead of the international friendly game against South Korea.

After the team completed their final training session of the day, the technical team and players gathered, where head coach Otto Addo commended Benjamin Asare, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Caleb Yirenkyi for their respective achievement.

Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare was awarded the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Home-Based Footballer of the Year 2026.

Thomas-Asante also won the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Fans’ Player of the Month award in the English Championship for October.

Meanwhile, Caleb Yirenkyi won the Danish Superliga Young Player of the Month award for September following his impressive performances with FC Nordsjaelland.

In his remarks, Otto Addo stated that the players’ awards needed to be celebrated within the squad to encourage others to give their best.

The entire squad lined up as the three players walked through, receiving congratulatory touches from their teammates.

This comes as the Black Stars prepare to face South Korea in an international friendly match on September 18, 2025, as they look forward to securing a decent result to make up for their 2-0 defeat against Japan earlier in the 2025 Kirin Challenge Cup.
