Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, has credited captain Jordan Ayew for motivating him ahead of Ghana’s recent 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Madagascar.

Asare, who earned his first call-up to the Ghana national team, revealed that Jordan Ayew’s words of encouragement played a significant role in boosting his confidence.

“Special thanks to Jordan Ayew- he motivated me all the time and told me that, despite being a local player, I can do this.”

Asare’s debut call-up to the Black Stars came during a crucial period, as Ghana secured all six points with an emphatic eight goals scored across both matches. The 32-year-old shot-stopper has been in impressive form for Hearts of Oak, keeping 12 clean sheets in 18 appearances.

Asare praised the warm reception he received in camp, citing the senior players’ support as a key factor in his success.

“As soon as I entered camp, everyone was happy to welcome me, which gave me more motivation to work hard,” he said.

With his impressive performances, Benjamin Asare has proven that local league talent can rise to the highest level and thrive.
