Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare is expected to return to full training next week after spending close to two weeks on the sidelines with injury.

The shot-stopper has missed the Phobians’ last three league matches, a run that has coincided with the club’s inconsistent form and early exit from the FA Cup.

Asare picked up the setback shortly after returning from international duty with Ghana.

His last appearance was for the Black Stars on November 18, 2025, in the 1–0 loss to South Korea, a match in which he impressed, notably saving a penalty.

But the knock he suffered afterwards kept him out of Hearts’ fixtures against Young Apostles, Vision FC, and Karela United.

According to the Ghana Football Association’s Statistician, Mohammed Shaban, Asare is close to full recovery and is expected to rejoin the squad in training next week. He will, however, sit out this Sunday’s, December 14, 2025, Ghana Premier League clash against Nations FC as a precaution.

His absence has been felt deeply. Hearts of Oak have managed only one victory in their last four games, while their FA Cup hopes were ended by third-tier side True Life FC at the Round of 32 stage. In his place, Solomon Agbasi has held the fort and is set to continue until Asare is cleared to play.

Before the injury, Asare had made eight league appearances this season, keeping five clean sheets and establishing himself as a key figure in the team’s defensive structure.
