Akwasi Kardashian faced accusations of being gay when he was alive Akwasi Kardashian faced accusations of being gay when he was alive

In light of Akwasi Kardashian’s death, discussions about his sexuality have intensified.

Before his passing, the effeminate Ghanaian socialite was often labeled as gay, leading netizens to believe this narrative.

Some individuals claimed that his perceived sexuality triggered the kidney disease that ultimately led to his kidney failure and death.

Critics asserted that those who are gay have a higher likelihood of contracting such illnesses, stating that Akwasi Kardashian suffered a similar fate.

However, in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb’s Elsie Lamar, medical practitioner James Soboh dispelled these claims.

He stated that there is no link whatsoever between being gay and contracting kidney disease.

“Gayism? No! It doesn’t do that. It’s not true,” he affirmed, adding, “This could be an illiterate mentality that has persisted in our society for a long time.”

He outlined the key factors contributing to kidney disease that can escalate into chronic failure, which can be fatal.

“Diabetes is the number one cause, followed by hypertension, energy drinks, unprescribed painkillers, and hard drugs. In the initial stages, these can lead to acute kidney failure, and if not addressed, can result in chronic kidney disease.”

He explained, “When this happens, dialysis may be necessary to sustain you until a transplant is performed. If the transplant isn’t done in time and potassium levels become too high (hyperkalemia), along with low blood levels, these factors can lead to death,” he added.
