Mix Master Garzy is a Ghanaian music producer Mix Master Garzy is a Ghanaian music producer

Ghanaian music producer, Mix Master Garzy, has explained what it means to be a music producer, saying the title should not be used loosely.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, he stated that being a real producer involves knowing how to handle every stage of music creation, not just one part of it.

“Before you call yourself a producer, you have to know how to produce, how to make beats, how to engineer audio, meaning proper recording as a recording engineer. You need to know how to mix, how to direct, how to write, maybe even how to sing. All of these are part of being a full producer,” he said.

According to him, some people only know how to create beats, while others only know how to record or mix, but that doesn’t mean they are full producers.

“Some people are just beat makers, some are mixing engineers, others are recording engineers,” he added.

Mix Master Garzy, who has worked with almost all the big artistes in Ghana and beyond, said he was lucky to learn all the necessary skills in his career, which is why he calls himself Mix Master Garzy.

“Where I’m coming from, I was fortunate to learn all of these skills together, and that’s why I’m ‘Mix Master Garzy,’” he explained.

He also noted that some beat makers think they can do everything just because they know how to record music, but that’s not enough.

“Some people are just beat makers, but because they can record, they assume they can mix too. It’s time they understand the difference,” he said.
