The family of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba paid a courtesy call on former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to officially inform him of the musician’s passing and to invite him to the upcoming one-week celebration.

The visit took place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the NPP presidential candidate hopeful’s office.

The delegation, led by Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu of the Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta and former Deputy CEO of MASLOC, Madam Afia Akoto, formally extended an invitation to Dr Bawumia for the one-week celebration.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the University of Ghana, Legon Sports Stadium.

During the meeting, Dr Bawumia reiterated his earlier commitment to support the family, a promise he had made during his visit to the musician’s East Legon residence in July.

To honour this pledge, he presented a cash donation of GH₵100,000 to help with the preparations for the celebration.

The money was handed to Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu by the former Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

Dr Bawumia also promised to assist the family with the funeral arrangements, which will be held in the Ashanti Region once a date is announced.
