As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) reflects on the results of the 2024 elections, questions about the party’s next steps and leadership have taken centre stage.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye has shared his thoughts on the path forward, particularly with regard to the selection of a running mate and the future of the party under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In a recent appearance on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Aboagye emphasised that the decision regarding the selection of a running mate is firmly within the hands of the party’s flagbearer.

He stated, “Selection of a running mate is always a prerogative of the flagbearer. Maybe when you have an opportunity to sit down with him, you can ask him.”

His comment highlighted the significance of the flagbearer’s role in the decision-making process, with Bawumia at the helm as the leader of the NPP.

Aboagye’s statements subtly reminded the public that these crucial decisions should not be hurried, as they will require careful consideration and alignment with the party’s larger goals.

Reflecting on the current state of the NPP, Aboagye acknowledged that the party is at a critical juncture.

With Bawumia leading the charge, the party has an opportunity to regroup and focus on rebuilding, a process that Miracles Aboagye believes is essential for regaining trust and recapturing the presidency.

“The party is trying to rebuild. He’s [Dr. Bawumia] the leader of the party. So, that’s his job. He needs to stand up and lead us to do the rebuilding, the reflection, and then lead us into recapturing,” He explained.
