Early on Wednesday morning, the pickup truck carrying five members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Jaman North Constituency caught fire, but they barely avoided injury.

When the regrettable situation happened, the group was traveling from Sampa, the constituency capital, to Seketia in order to carry out a house-to-house political campaign.

The fire’s precise cause is still unknown. But according to accounts, the car, which had Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s image and tagline, “It is possible,” was equipped with a generator, a public address system, and personal items like cash and cell phones, all of which were burned in the fire.

One of the passengers, NPP polling agent Emmanuel Frempa Amponsah, recalled that during the trip, they could see smoke emanating from the back of the car. He claimed that the driver pulled over right away to look into it, but that as soon as they got out, the car caught fire, burning everything within.

The incident has since been reported to the police, who are expected to investigate further.
