The moment a helicopter carrying a trainee pilot and his instructor lost control and plummeted to the ground has been captured in terrifying new footage.
The Robinson R22 helicopter is seen ripping through trees just seconds before it crashed-landed on top of a car in dashcam footage captured by a nearby vehicle.
The pair had been mid-way through a low-level aerial exercise class when the helicopter clipped a power pole and lost control, hurtling to the ground.
The car sustained a massive dent to the boot from the impact of the crash.
Police and paramedics were called to the confronting scene at Bankstown Airport car park on Birch Street about 1.30pm on Friday.
The 50-year-old instructor died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The trainee pilot, a 19-year-old boy, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

An owner from a neighbouring business said he heard a loud bang.
‘People start running, running along those with were scared, looking up. Maybe a bomb happened like, you know, in the plane,’ he said.
‘Like in, uh, went into fire or something. So I told the boys to stay away a little bit.’
Police established a crime scene with officers from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau who are expected to turn on Saturday.
‘Planned activities include site and wreckage examination, mapping of the site, and recovery of any helicopter components for further examination at the ATSB’s technical facilities in Canberra,’ the bureau said in a statement.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
