Renowned actress and former Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), Juliet Yaa Asante, has revealed that the Bank of Ghana withdrew funds from the NFA accounts at the end of last year.

According to Asante, the money was specifically raised to establish an office and purchase a vehicle for the National Film Authority.

“The small amount of money I managed to raise for an office and a car was cleared from the accounts by the Bank of Ghana before we could secure the office or the vehicle,” she stated.

In a heartfelt social media post on Sunday, March 2, 2025, Asante opened up about the numerous challenges she faced during her tenure as Executive Secretary of the NFA.

She disclosed that she was appointed to the position without an office, a team, or a vehicle to support her work.

    Harassment and Online Abuse

Beyond the financial difficulties, Juliet Asante also endured verbal and sexual harassment while in office.

“I remember a particular day when I was caught between two male bosses. One physically lifted me and pushed me into the arms of another, insisting that I give him a hug,” she revealed.

Asante also recounted facing relentless online and offline attacks, including a two-week period during which she was subjected to continuous insults across three different WhatsApp groups.

Despite these challenges, Asante took a moment to congratulate Kafui Danku, the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the NFA.

She urged the government to provide better support, including office space and a vehicle, to ensure Danku does not face similar hardships.

“Please provide Kafui with an office and a car so she can perform her duties effectively and not have to conduct government work from her living room, as I was forced to do,” she appealed.
