Bagbin Makes Huge Donation In Upper West Region

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, has made a significant contribution to the Upper West Regional Health Directorate to aid in the fight against Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM). This donation, which took place on Sunday, February 16, 2025, was announced by Speaker Bagbin on his Facebook page.

The donated items include essential medical supplies such as antibiotics like Ceftriaxone, spinal needles, intravenous (IV) fluids, and other necessary materials. Speaker Bagbin expressed his confidence that these supplies would significantly improve both the diagnosis and treatment of meningitis in the region.

Cerebrospinal Meningitis, commonly known as CSM in Ghana, is a serious infection that affects the brain and spinal cord. It is highly contagious, with frequent outbreaks reported in northern Ghana in past years. Without timely treatment, the disease can result in severe complications or even death.

In his statement, Speaker Bagbin emphasized the need for a collective effort in combating CSM. He urged both health professionals and the public to collaborate in preventing the spread of the disease.
