The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has released Baba Jamal, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East, on self-recognisance bail following several hours of questioning.
According to his lawyer, Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu, Jamal was questioned about claims of vote-buying linked to the NDC’s parliamentary primary held on Saturday, February 7.
“He was also asked about an alleged incident involving an officer from the OSP, who reportedly faced assault while serving an invitation letter to him,” Adawudu explained.
The lawyer emphasised that his client was unaware of any items being distributed in his name during the primaries.
“If he had known, and as a lawyer, he would have informed people about the legal position,” Adawudu added.
After a tense day of questioning, Baba Jamal walked out of the OSP offices, relieved to be free on bail while the investigation continues, promising full cooperation with authorities.
