Fiifi Tackie, the spokesperson for the Ayew family, has criticised the head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, for the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

He disputed Otto Addo‘s claims of working with top coaches, including former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, citing his poor performance with the team as evidence.

Tackie expressed disappointment over Ghana’s failure to qualify for the AFCON for the first time in 21 years, questioning Otto Addo’s leadership and coaching abilities.

The Ayew family spokesperson urged football authorities to hold Addo accountable for the Black Stars’ failure in the AFCON qualifiers.

“Otto Addo‘s claims of working with Klopp don’t excuse his failure to qualify us for the 24-team tournament. His inability to achieve this goal raises questions about his leadership. Ghana deserves better.

“Blaming others or boasting about past associations won’t improve our football. We need accountability and results. Unfortunately, Addo’s comments come across as deflecting responsibility. Ghana should strive for higher standards in football management. We need coaches who deliver, not just talk,” Tackie wrote on his Facebook page on November 18, 2024.

Andre Ayew’s exclusion from the Black Stars squad since Otto Addo took over has raised concerns about the coach, but he remained steadfast in his decision.

The Black Stars, led by coach Otto Addo, failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Their recent 1-1 draw against Angola left them at the bottom of Group F with just three points from five matches—two losses and three draws.
