Musah Rahman “Awoo Dede” Lawson, one of Ghana’s most disciplined and resilient boxers, is set to return to the ring on April 25 at the Bukom Boxing Arena as part of SEM Promotions’ Night of Reset.

Lawson, a former national champion, has long struggled to secure consistent opponents on the local scene despite his pedigree.

An ex-Black Bomber, he represented Ghana at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia in the middleweight division, earning recognition for his skill and discipline.

Since turning professional, the Ghana Prisons Service employee has remained focused on his ambition of becoming a continental champion.

He currently boasts an impressive professional record of 17 wins and one loss, with most of his victories coming outside Ghana. Competing in the Super Welterweight division, Lawson believes he is the best in his class.

While many of his wins have not come against top-tier opposition, his sole defeat was a points decision against a highly rated English opponent who had a 25–1 record at the time an experience that has only strengthened his resolve.

On the domestic front, Lawson has yet to face a truly durable challenger.

Proposed bouts with Derrick Quaye and Jacob Tetteh Laryea failed to materialise, leaving fans eager to finally see him tested in the ring.

His fortunes have improved under the guidance of SEM Promotions, led by Eddie Coleman, whose arrival on the boxing scene has provided greater exposure for local fighters.

Lawson is now signed as one of the promotion’s headline boxers and will feature prominently at the upcoming event, where he is expected to contest a WBO-sanctioned bout.

The Night of Reset will also feature other exciting matchups.

Another former Black Bomber, Abraham Mensah, a Commonwealth Games medallist, will take on Lamptey in a Super Featherweight contest.

Meanwhile, Michael Adjei Selvi (10-2-1) is set to face Jerry Klutei Robertson (6-2-0) in a Super Bantamweight clash.

Several other promising boxers, including juvenile fighters, will also be showcased on the night, promising an action-packed programme.

According to promoter Eddie Coleman, the event is already generating massive interest.

“These bouts are virtually sold out. Fans cannot wait,” Coleman said, assuring boxing lovers of explosive action and top-class entertainment on the night.
