Ghanaian international, Augustine Boakye was on target for AS Saint-Étienne who edged Lava by 2-1 in their round 24 French Ligue 2 encounter at the iconic Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

The home side drew first blood as Georgian international Zuriko Davitashvili converted a spot-kick just three minutes into the game.

The host’s advantage did not last long, with Malian midfielder Mamadou Camara pulling one back in the 36th minute to make to draw level. The game stayed open and competitive as both sides searched for control.

Two minutes later, Augustine Boakye produced the winner, finishing off a fine passage of play in the 38th minute to restore Saint-Étienne’s lead.

The former WAFA star has now registered ten goal involvements this season — five goals and five assists — underlining his growing influence in the French second tier.

Saint-Étienne will now turn their attention to their next assignment, against Pau FC, as they continue their push in the Ligue 2 race.
