Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Boakye delivered a stellar performance, scoring twice to propel AS Saint-Étienne to a 3-1 victory over Stade Reims at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Saturday in the French Ligue 1.

Japanese international Keito Nakamura opened the scoring in the 42nd minute, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

However, the home side turned the game around in the second half, with Boakye equalizing in the 50th minute. Just seven minutes later, he struck again, completing his brace and putting Saint-Étienne ahead.

Belgian forward Lucas Stassin sealed the win in the 74th minute, ensuring all three points stayed with the home side.

Boakye, who joined Saint-Étienne this season following an impressive spell at Wolfsberger AC, has faced injury challenges but is steadily finding his form. Saturday’s performance marked a significant milestone, as he now has two goals in nine Ligue 1 appearances.

The former WAFA standout will aim to maintain his spot in the starting lineup as Saint-Étienne prepares for a tough away match against PSG at the Parc des Princes next weekend.
