Aston Villa have agreed to sign Marco Asensio from French champions PSG on loan until the end of the season.
The 29-year-old Spain international is currently under contract with the Parisians until June 2026.
He has been at PSG since July 2023 when he arrived from Real Madrid.
Asensio has scored seven goals in 47 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, having netted 61 times in 286 outings for his former side. However, he has been an unused substitute in three of the last four games and PSG are willing to offload him this winter, having offered him around to multiple potential suitors.
Villa are desperate to bolster their attack following the departure of top scorer Jhon Duran to Al Nassr for £65million.
Following Saturday night’s 2-0 defeat by Wolves, Unai Emery insisted that his team needed to make additions before the winter transfer window shuts on Monday.

The Midlands club are closing in on signing of Marcus Rashford on loan until end of the season
‘We need some players,’ he told the BBC post match. ‘We need to replace some players who left. Tomorrow and Monday are the last two days.
‘I think we’ll get some players to help us because we’re in the Champions League last 16. We have to try to get points in the Premier League to be top eight, seven, six, five.’
In addition to Asensio, the Midlands club are closing in on the signing of wantaway Manchester United star Marcus Rashford on loan.
The 27-year-old bid farewell to his Red Devils team-mates on Saturday, speaking to staff and players at Carrington after being given the green light for his loan switch to Villa Park.
Personal terms have been agreed and the finer details of terms between clubs are being ironed out.
The England international has fallen out of favour at his boyhood club and is being allowed to leave before the window closes. Rashford’s wages of about £350,000 are well in excess of the salary of Villa’s top earner, thought to be Emi Martinez.
It is understood Villa will contribute 70 per cent of Rashford’s salary, which will included performance-based clauses. The agreement is also set to include a buy option at the end of the season.
Villa remain interested in Chelsea’s Joao Felix though they face competition from AC Milan, while Leon Bailey could leave, with United interested in a deal separate to the Rashford agreement.
