Assin South District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Jonathan Birikorang has donated 10 packets of roofing sheets to Assin Nuanua Fante D/A School and Baafikrom/Ohia Ntwedom School in the Assin South District of the Central Region after a heavy downpour which completely ripped off the roofs of the Both JHS classrooms. The provisions of the roofing sheets followed a rainstorm disaster that rifted off the roofs of these two facilities rendering them unfit for purpose.

The 10 packets of roofing sheets will be shared equally between the two schools, with each school receiving 5 packets. The DCE who toured these affected school facilities together with the NADMO Director, Mr Adusei Sarpong Nicholas assessed the extent of damage caused by the disaster, promised during the tour, to work expeditiously to fix the situation for the pupils to have uninterrupted teaching and learning.

Presenting the roofing sheets, the DCE advised the schools’ managers and PTAs to collaborate to undertake minor repairs to prevent such defects from degenerating into bigger challenges. He also admonished them to imbibe and inculcate in staffs and young learners the culture of tree planting around the schools’ buildings to serve as windbreaks to prevent windstorms from causing havoc to our schools’ properties.

Hon. Jonathan said her office was committed to improving education infrastructure at the basic level to ensure more students qualified to benefit from the free Senior High School programme.

“Plans are far advanced for the construction of a 3-unit classroom blocks for both schools before the end of the year and hopefully add another 3-unit classroom blocks next year. All these are been done to improve academic standards in Assin South District,”the DCE hinted.

He further assured residents of Nuanua Tutugya of plans to build a well-equipped classroom block for their community. Additionally, he addressed electricity challenges at the local health center, pledging to restore reliable power to support healthcare delivery.

The initiative underscores the district’s broader efforts to enhance educational and social amenities. Hon. Birikorang urged community cooperation to ensure timely project completion, reaffirming his office’s dedication to grassroots development.

The leadership of the schools commended the DCE for the Assin South District, Hon. Jonathan Birikorang for his responsive and exemplary leadership to the people of the Assin South District. The gesture will undoubtedly lessen the burden and pain of the staff, parents, pupils and beneficiaries of the affected facilities.

Chief of Nuanua Fante, Nana Christian who received the items on behalf of the school lauded the DCE for his quick response to the plight of the school and the Community as a whole.
