Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician, Kwabena Kwabena, has revealed that his most popular song, “Aso”, was written at the back of a trotro while he was a student at Accra Polytechnic.

Speaking in an interview, he explained that about 70 percent of the songs on the Aso album were composed during his commutes from school to his house.

“Aso was written in a trotro, that album I would say I wrote about 70% to 80% of the songs in a trotro. Around that time, I was at Accra Poly. I would close from school, and I would walk from the school campus to Circle before I got a St John’s bus to go home,” he said

He added, “I always like to sit at the back of the trotro so when I’m there I just put my file on my lap, and I start writing, and in those sombre moments God blessed me with a lot of songs,” he explained.

20 years later, “Aso” has become one of his greatest works.

Kwabena Kwabena further stated that 20 years from now, he’s looking at relaxing, doing a show once a year and charging a million dollars for those shows.

“20 years from now, I wouldn’t say I’d be retired, but I’d be relaxing and doing shows once a year, and I charge a million dollars,” he maintained.
