The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has announced a new initiative to incorporate Kumawood actors into Senior High School (SHS) entertainment activities across the region.

According to the Minister, this move is part of a broader strategy to infuse elements of health, fashion, and creative arts into school programs, aiming to inspire and nurture students through local culture and homegrown talent.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Amoakohene said the collaboration will allow popular Kumawood actors and other creatives to participate in school entertainment sessions, stimulating student engagement and reinforcing pride in Ghanaian identity.

“As we introduce students to their own culture through personalities they admire, we’re not only entertaining them—we’re also shaping their values and confidence in local heritage,” he said.

In addition, the Minister revealed ongoing discussions between the fashion industry and Kumawood to produce custom-made costumes for film productions. He believes this partnership will boost local businesses, create employment opportunities, and encourage youth creativity.

“The idea is to promote Ghanaian pride among young people. When we teach them to value and love local content early, they’ll grow up with respect for their identity and contribute positively to nation-building,” Dr. Amoakohene emphasized.
