Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Mohammed Camara is living his father’s dream and continuing a proud family tradition.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper has earned a call-up to the Guinea senior national team for the upcoming international friendlies against Togo and Niger, a reward for his excellent start to the season.

Since joining Kotoko in 2024, Camara has quickly established himself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Ghana Premier League.

He has kept two clean sheets in three league appearances this season, showcasing the same composure and athleticism that once defined his father, Kemoko Camara.

Kemoko, a towering figure in Guinean football, represented the Syli Nationale from 1998 to 2013, featuring at the 2004 and 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

He built an impressive club career spanning Israel, Scotland, Belgium, France, and South Africa, where he notably played for AmaZulu FC before transitioning into coaching as a goalkeeper’s coach.

Now, more than a decade after his father’s retirement, Mohammed is carving out his own path in the same colours.

His selection by Guinea’s head coach Paulo Duarte underlines his growing reputation, with his performances in Kotoko’s 2024 FA Cup and Super Cup triumphs serving as key highlights.

For the Camara family, football isn’t just a passion, it’s heritage. Kemoko once guarded the Guinean goalposts with distinction, and now his son stands poised to do the same, carrying the legacy forward.
