Fresh tension has emerged between the family of the late Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, and Asante Kotoko, months after the tragic death of the supporter.

According to a report by Kessben TV, Pooley’s family claimed they have been blocked by Kotoko officials, despite repeated efforts to engage with the club and seek an audience with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, owner of the Porcupine Warriors.

“All attempts to meet Otumfuo have been unsuccessful as well. We’ve only restrained ourselves to avoid denigrating Manhyia,” said Nana Afia, sister of the late Pooley.

Pooley’s death sent shockwaves through Ghanaian football after he was stabbed to death during Kotoko’s Premier League clash against Nsoatreman in Nsoatre on February 2, 2025.

The incident, which stemmed from a heated argument in the stands, triggered widespread violence as fans invaded the pitch, pelting objects and attacking players and officials.

In the aftermath, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II intervened, adopted Pooley’s children and established an educational fund to secure their future. The gesture was widely praised as a symbol of leadership and compassion.

However, the family’s latest claims point to lingering tensions, clouding the legacy of a man revered for his steadfast loyalty to Asante Kotoko.
