Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, boxing promoter Sharaf Mahama, and other celebrities attended a boxing night at the Bukom Arena in celebration of Ghana’s 68th Independence Day on March 6, 2025.

Nigerian musician Patoranking was also spotted at the event as they enjoyed an evening of intense matchups.

The event, dubbed Shishii Fight Night, featured several remarkable bouts, including an unprecedented incident where a boxer threw his opponent out of the ring in the middle of a fight.

Ghanaian Super Welterweight boxer Henry Malm was at the center of the shocking incident, hurling his opponent, Derrick Quaye, out of the ring and causing the fight to end abruptly.

The boxing event was held to celebrate the country’s achievements in the sport over the years.

Ghana has produced great boxers like Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey, Joseph Agbeko, and others.
