Artiste manager and musician, Bullet, has described Daddy Lumba as the greatest Ghanaian musician of all time, considering his role in not just uplifting emerging artistes.

Speaking to GhanaWeb at Daddy Lumba residence, Bullet said, “He is the greatest to ever do it. Yeah, he’s the greatest of all time. And I’m not saying this because he’s no longer around.”

He highlighted Daddy Lumba’s extensive contributions to Ghanaian music, noting what truly set him apart was his willingness to support and elevate younger talents, unlike many Ghanaian artistes who choose to shine solo.

“I’ve never seen a star who allows other stars to shine with him. Lumba is the only one who brought out Felix Owusu, Nana Yaw Michah, Ofori Ampomsah, Akua Serwaa, a lot.

“That has never happened in the history of Ghana music. The artistes don’t do it, when they shine, they shine alone,” he said.

He, however, acknowledged others who have attempted similar mentorship, like Sarkodie and Shatta Wale, and his own efforts to nurture upcoming talents.

“I’m doing it. I’m bringing other artistes as well. So the new crop should learn from that side,” he said.

He advised Ghanaians musicians to embody the life of Daddy Lumba and bring up other musicians on board.

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu on September 29, 1964, built a legendary career across more than three decades, releasing over 30 albums and becoming a fixture of Ghana’s cultural identity.
