Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Samuel Nartey George, has said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a futuristic concept but a present reality.

Sam George, as he is affectionately called, argued that AI is now reshaping industries, economies, and societies globally.

The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram made this comment at the 2025 Ghana AI Summit and Awards in a speech read on his behalf by Dr. Collins Yeboah-Afari, the Director-General at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT.

“AI is no longer a futuristic concept but a present reality reshaping industries, economies, and societies globally.”

He added that AI offers Ghana a unique opportunity to address numerous challenges across various sectors of the economy.

“For Ghana, AI offers unprecedented opportunities to address challenges and accelerate progress across various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, finance, education, and governance,” the statement read by Dr. Collins Yeboah-Afari on behalf of Sam George noted.

Sam George concluded by saying that the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization will ensure that AI is not only reserved for people in Accra.

“AI is not only reserved for people in Accra or only the regional capitals, so we will make sure that it spreads across for all to benefit from it.”
