Veteran politician and founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Arthur Kennedy, has called for party discipline to be applied to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, arguing that the party’s internal accountability mechanisms must extend to the highest level of leadership.
According to him, the NPP cannot credibly enforce discipline among its members while ignoring what he describes as “poor governance” outcomes under the Akufo-Addo administration, including economic hardship, corruption concerns and declining public trust.
“You cannot discipline selectively,” he said in an interview on Channel One TV’s Big Issue, stressing that accountability should not exclude senior figures or former presidents.
Dr Arthur Kennedy was reacting to the NPP’s attempt to expel Dr Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng for describing the party as “fake”.
