Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly ended his relationship with his model girlfriend, Ines Aguiar, as part of his determination to cut all ties with Portugal and push through a summer move to Arsenal.
The Swedish striker, who enjoyed a sensational season with Sporting CP, netting 54 goals across all competitions, has been one of Europe’s most talked-about transfer targets, with Arsenal, Manchester United, and Juventus all showing strong interest.
But behind the scenes, the transfer saga has taken a personal turn. According to Portuguese outlet TV Guia, Gyokeres and Aguiar, who is from Lisbon, have quietly split after a “relationship crisis” that began before the player left on vacation.
Sources close to the forward claim the split is directly tied to his decision to leave Sporting and “remove all ties to Portugal” as he eyes a Premier League return.
Ines Aguiar had reportedly promised to convince Gyokeres to remain in Lisbon for another season.
But with the Gunners pushing hard to land a new No.9 this summer, the 27-year-old striker is said to have made up his mind, and didn’t want any distractions or personal connections holding him back from the biggest move of his career.
“Viktor doesn’t want anything to tie him to Portugal, especially because he has already decided that he won’t continue at Sporting next season,” a source told local media.
Gyokeres, who previously played for Brighton and made his name at Coventry City with 38 league goals in two seasons, is now closing in on a blockbuster return to England.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, eager to add a prolific striker to his title-chasing squad, has made Gyokeres a top target alongside RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
