Entertainment personality, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, has fired back at critics following the controversy surrounding the Artiste of the Year category at the recently concluded Ghana Music Awards USA.
Recently, netizens have raised concerns about the credibility of the awards scheme after gospel musician Empress Gifty won the ‘Artiste of the Year’ title.
Many have questioned the criteria used, expressing surprise that Empress Gifty triumphed over artistes like Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Black Sherif, King Promise, and others, whom were believed to have worked exceptionally hard throughout the year.

Reacting to the development, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo noted that for the past two years, he has consistently explained the modalities of the award scheme, questioning why the topic is being raised again now that Empress Gifty has won the award.
“I sat on TV for 2years, 2 freaking years, explaining the modalities and dynamics of the @gmausa. I offered directions on which portal to get all relevant information on the scheme.

“You didn’t care, so you were not bothered and exhibited no form of concern. That’s ok! Empress gifty wins, and all of a sudden, you need me to explain the modalities and blah blah blah. I will explain ony3 k3 osooormli,” he wrote on Instagram on August 19, 2025.
Meanwhile, Empress Gifty is yet to comment on the issue.
